The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has reacted to the news or the death of former president , Muhammadu Buhari.

In a condolence message, which was signed by Secretary, Achike Chude, the Union consoled with the family of the former who recently died in a UK hospital from medical complications.

The condolence letter reads; “Our condolences also go to the Daura Emirate Council, and the government and people of Katsina state.

“The late president no doubt occupies a prominent place in the annals of the Nigerian State, having governed first as a military head of state, and later, as president in a democratic dispensation from 2015 to 2023.

“President Muhammadu Buhari governed Nigeria in a period of great difficulty and challenges and did his very best to right the ship of state.

“One of the remarkable things about him apart from others, was his exceptional frugal persona and simplicity which, if it had been emulated by members of the political elites across the country would have gone a long way in changing the socio-economic dynamics of our much beloved country for the better.

“There is a lesson to be learnt by the political class and indeed, all of us: that nothing lasts forever and that one day we will be required to account to a greater power for our actions and inactions at the personal and public levels.

“As the former president of the Republic goes home to meet his maker, we pray that Allah in whom he had ultimate confidence will show him mercy and welcome him home”.
