The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru has appointed Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Samson Nwafor and three other journalists as members of the governing board of the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC)—a strategic move aimed at revitalizing the state’s public media landscape.

Nwafor is also a Correspondent of Independent Newspapers alongside former NUJ Secretary; Nnamdi Akpa of The Guardian Newspapers; Felix Uka, also of Independent Newspapers and Chinwe Imo-Eze, Editor of The Voice Newspapers, were named.

They are part of a seven-member board constituted by Governor Nwifuru to steer the affairs of the state-owned broadcasting corporation.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the appointees will be officially sworn in this Monday at noon at the Governor’s Office, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

The inclusion of active media practitioners and industry leaders on the board is seen as a progressive step toward improving the quality, credibility, and reach of the state’s broadcasting services.

The Governor’s office emphasized that the appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to professionalizing the EBBC and strengthening the public communication infrastructure in Ebonyi State.
