A group of political stalwarts from Okigwe North Federal Constituency of Imo State are vehemently opposed to a third term bid by the member representing the federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Princess Miram Onuoha.come 2027.

Addressing the press last Tuesday, the stalwarts under the aegis of Okigwe Youth Mandate (OYM), called on the federal lawmaker to jettison her reelection bid into the House of Representatives.

The group’s National President, Evangelist Kelechi Uzoma, described the representation of the lawmaker as “chronic underperformance”.

He further accused the lawmaker of violating a prior one-term agreement, which he said is captured in her 2019 campaign slogan, “Otu Onu” (Just Once).

The group describes the lawmaker’s representation as a “monumental failure,” stating that there is lack of visible impact across the federal constituency, which are—Isiala Mbano, Onuimo, and Okigwe local government areas.

Uzoma, who is a media influencer and grassroots mobilizer from Isiala Mbano said: “After five years of glaring underrepresentation, it is both politically unjust and morally indefensible for Hon. Onuoha to seek a third term.

“In the spirit of equity and fairness, Isiala Mbano should step aside and give Onuimo its rightful opportunity to lead”.

Okigwe Youth Movement maintained that political power within the constituency must rotate among the three LGAs to ensure inclusive governance, stressing that “Onuimo is next in line, followed by Okigwe, as part of a long-standing but often overlooked zoning understanding among stakeholders”.

Uzoma revealed that OYM has vowed to galvanize community support and voter awareness campaigns to challenge what it called “an attempt to monopolize representation.”

“Democracy must reflect the collective will and aspirations of the people, not the ambition of a few”, OYM National President concluded.
