For the Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Everight Diagnostics Limited as well as his entire workers, 17th December 2025 would remain evergreen in their individual and corporate lives. It was a unique day those that call the biggest shots in Nigeria including the middle class and the hoi polloi gathered at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja to celebrate 20 years of excellence of a company reputed for its uprightness and accuracy in modern medical and health diagnosis. The event which highlighted the company’s rapid growth from a small startup in 2005 to a leading Nigerian diagnostics provider, afforded Everight the opportunity to reveal their breakthroughs and challenges as well.

It featured high-profile attendees including the Secretary to the government of the federation Senator George Akume, former governors, serving and past National Assembly members, diplomats and stakeholders in the nation’s health sector.

The mega ceremony occurred in Abuja as a 3-in-1 event, combining the 20th anniversary, a book launch by CEO Dr. Everest Okpara on employee retention, and the Everight Healthcare Foundation launch.

Speaking at the historic event, Everight Diagnostics’ CEO Mr Everest Okpara said his establishment had been able to make noticeable footprints in the sands time as a result of their avowed commitment, passion and dedication laced with courage and hard work.

Okpara said the past 20 years had not been easy in terms availability of funds, equipments and ease of doing business.He decried the magnitude of capital flight from Nigeria to Europe and America by high profile individuals who always seek medical attention overseas whilst the nation’s healthcare sector is left in ruins.

The Founder of Everight Diagnostics remarked that Nigerians spend billions of dollars on medical tourism overseas, amount he said was more than enough to upgrade and sustain medical facilities in the country for the good of all Nigerians.

He revealed that his company sometimes outsource some critical diagnosis overseas due to lack of huge amounts of money required to procure modern equipment for such critical diagnosis.

The Imo born medical administrator cum researcher therefore urged the Federal government to as a matter of urgent importance, establish a health bank that could give credit facilities with low interest rates to diagnostic centres for the purchase of capital intensive modern machines for key and essential medical diagnosis that are not currently done in Nigeria, among other things.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume in his speech, commended Everight Diagnostics for its healthcare contributions and interventions that had saved many lives in the country including the employment of professionals of Nigeria’s origin in the company. Akume assured that Everight CEO’s proposal for Bank of Health would be looked into by the Federal government via a memo he will personally send to Mr President.

Two serving Federal lawmakers Senator Osita Izunaso and Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere who concurred with the SGF, promised to take the matter to the National Assembly for its consideration via a bill.

The 20th anniversary event also featured reward for best performing workers and free medical outreach.

Founded in 2005 by Mr Everest Okpara in Lagos, Everight Diagnostics extended branches in Owerri, Abuja, Enugu, etc. It pioneered private COVID-19 PCR testing in 2020 and holds ISO 15189 accreditation for its Abuja lab centre.

The company now employs about 650 staff and has trained thousands of health professionals in Nigeria.
