◾Advises Anambra Governor to use wisdom in handling already tensed situation in South East
The traditional spokesperson of Igboland, Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, Chief Ambassador Dr Jonathan Ejike Iwu, has kicked against the decision of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo to shut down the Onitsha Main Market for one week following the closure of the same market by traders last Monday.
According to reports, traders at the market, last Monday shutdown the biggest market in the South East, in compliance with the Sit-at-home order due to the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the federal government.
In an exclusive chat with our Correspondent, Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu called out Prof Soludo, saying that he should not escalate the already tensed security situation in the State.
“Can someone use fuel to put out a raging fire?”, he queried.
According to the Traditional spokesperson of Igboland, Governor Soludo should use his God-given wisdom to address the people with the view to dousing the already aggrieved and tensed security situation in the State and the South East zone by extension.
Chief Ambassador Ejike Iwu further cautioned does that are enforcing the Monday Sit-at-home order, to consider the plight of the poor and hungry masses in addition to the economy of the South East, stressing that Sit-at-home has not improved the economy or plight of the people.
He said it is not the Sit-at-home on Mondays that will lead to the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu rather that there are interested parties even outside the country on the continued detention of the IPOB leader.
While advising leaders of the South East to ensure there is peace and security in the zone, he called on the federal government to look at the plight of the zone.
The Traditional spokesperson of Igboland concluded that what the action of the Governor portrays abuse of power and executive recklessness, urging him to ensure there is conducive environment for the people. He assured that such conducive atmosphere will certainly end the Sit-at-home exercises.
