The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome assassination of an Mbaise traditional ruler, HRH Eze James Nnamdi, Durujiaku Uboma II of Nguru Nweke Autonomous Community in Aboh Mbaise LGA.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde condemned the murder of the royal father.
The police command revealed that the late traditional ruler died at private medical facility in the state, due to the gunshots wound he sustained during the attack.
According to the statement, a team had been put in place to investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder of HRH Eze Nnamdi popularly known as Mmirioma and bring the perpetrators to book.
The PPRO said: ” The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde has condemned in totality the gruesome murder of Eze Mmirioma, a Traditional Ruler in Aboh Mbaise who died while receiving treatment in the hospital after being shot severally in his house today by gunmen.
“He has set up a high powered investigating team to investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Our roving correspondent revealed that unknown armed men on Monday, July 17 at about 3pm local time, stormed the palace of the traditional ruler and shot him repeatedly.
Sources said the assassins’ attack on the traditional ruler caused panic in the palace and community as residents took to their heels for safety while the operation was going on.
At the time of filing this report, there was no information with regards to the motive behind the gruesome assassination of the traditional ruler of Nguru Nweke Autonomous Community.
