The Federal Science and Technical College, FSTC Umuaka in Imo State last Saturday elected the pioneer PTA executives that will pilot the affairs of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA for the next three years.
Addressing the newly elected PTA executives, Barr Uyanna Betty who represented the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, admonished them not to see their new roles as a parallel management of the College.
Barr Uyanna charged the PTA officials to complement and cooperate with the management of the FSTC led by the principal.
She tasked the PTA leadership to look for ways and means to assist the young College in surmounting her teething challenges.
Earlier before the election, the principal of the College, Mr Jeremiah Joseph Naye called on those that will emerge as winners to assist the FSTC Umuaka in areas that will encourage learning and teaching in the part of students and teachers respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected PTA Chairman, Chief Davidson Agams on behalf of his executive members promised to work harmoniously with the college management to move the FSTC Umuaka to greater heights.
At the end of the PTA election, which is the first since the establishment of the new federal unity college in Imo State, the following emerged as PTA executives: Hon Chief Davidson Agams (Chairman), Chief Igwechi (Vice Chairman), Mrs Ogbonna (Treasurer), Comrade Eze Adiuku (PRO), Dr Mrs Akubude (Secretary) and Mrs Nnolim (Financial Secretary).
It will be recalled that the PTA election was supervised by Barr Uyanna Betty and Mr Fan Enemali who are representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education Abuja.
