Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Imo State Council have disclosed their programme of activities for the 2023 Press Week.
In a release from the Planning Committee, the 2023 Press Week with the theme, “Journalism In The 21st Century”, will kick off this Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, Owerri.
The statement endorsed by Everest Ezihe and Collins Amadi, Chairman and Secretary, Press Week Planning Committee respectively, further disclosed that journalists will undertake a tour of the state government establishments on Monday, December 11..
The NUJ added that interested members of the Union will undergo free medical screening on Tuesday, December 12 at Bright Star Care Specialist Hospital, Avu in Owerri West Local Government Area.
It pointed out that prostrate and cervical screening will take place during the free medicals.
The statement equally disclosed that there will also be health talks by the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA and Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN same day at NUJ Press Centre in New Owerri.
On Wednesday, December 13, the journalists will also embark on road walk, have breakfast and engage in indoor sports competitions.
Other activities include a lecture to be delivered by Hon Chike John Okafor, member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives on Thursday, December 14 and an interactive session with the state governor, Hope Uzodimma on Friday, December 15.
The statement further disclosed that there be a novelty match at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on December 15 while an awards ceremony holds on Saturday, December 16.
