… Tribunal adjourns matter December 11

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Owerri, December, the capital of Imo State, on 5th of December, has adjourned the SDP Vs APC, ISIEC and APC Aspirants matter, wherein SDP is asking it to cancel the September 21st 2024 Imo Local Government Elections conducted by Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) as it was highly allegedly manipulated.
The Council Polls were held amidst boycott by some political parties over what they termed as lack of confidence for credible process by ISIEC who they earlier told to address some misnomer foreseen.
At the Election Petition Tribunal, all the petitioners of SDP and their team of lawyers headed by Barr. Chima Onwukwe were in attendance and are very optimistic of winning the matter having made good cases.
After the court sitting, SDP stated that it was very confident of the possibility of the court cancelling the poll given to alleged rigging by the APC and the ISIEC, regretting that no election took place any where in Imo State on the 21st of September, 2024.
The party said it has confidence in the Election Petition Tribunal which it said believes in justice and rule of law, hinting that the party’s dedication and steadfastness in the election matter at the tribunal is a sign of unity, brevity and victory against bad leadership and electoral malfiseance.
“SDP maintains that there were nothing as Council Elections in Imo State on 21st September 2024. In fact, what was orchestrated on the election day was a show of shame to all citizens of Imo State perpetrated by APC and ISIEC. The LG Polls were rather a selection of APC aspirants – many of who have no integrity. There was clearly no democratic election as claimed by ISIEC and this charade will adversely affect the masses especially those who live at the infrastructure deficit grassroots.
“SDP stands bigger, better and is well positioned to tell the people the raw truth in governance. SDP firmly believes that positive leadership, social justice and electoral reform are one of the ways to a better society where absolute peace, security and prosperity domicile.
“Members of SDP are happy to let the public know that we are unshakable at the Election Petition Tribunal. We stand united and we would not allow any distraction or allow any one infiltrate Imo SDP”, the party maintained.
