Minister of Works David Umahi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-East) Barr. Chioma Nweze, and other stakeholders have called on the people of the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, insisting Ndigbo must “get it right” by aligning with the centre to secure greater dividends of democracy.

Speaking at a well-attended political gathering at the Ecumenical Centre, Nweze said the Tinubu administration has given the region a stronger sense of inclusion than previous governments. She pointed to projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as evidence of tangible benefits and urged the zone to join others in backing the president’s second-term bid to unlock more federal opportunities.

Umahi cautioned against repeating past political missteps, arguing that alignment with the centre would help consolidate ongoing federal infrastructure gains and attract further development. He said the South-East had received unprecedented attention under the current administration and that social-media criticism would not deter him from delivering quality projects nationwide.

Stakeholders at the event agreed the region must strategically position itself within the national political equation to enjoy greater inclusion, federal presence and sustainable development.
