The 2027 reelection bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC), was last Saturday given a boost as the leadership of South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) for Tinubu inaugurated Coordinators for the three Zones as well as the 27 local government areas.

In a groundbreaking ceremony held at Owerri, the state capital with the theme: “Empowering The Grassroot”, SERHA equally used the opportunity to distribute empowerment items and cash to people across the local government councils.

The Tinubu support group reached out to various persons across party lines as a way to spread the message of hope on the developmental blueprints of President Tinubu for the geopolitical zone, which he had promised to give full sense of belonging in Nigeria project.

Speaking while inaugurating Imo State Coordinators, SERHA National Coordinator, Amb. Belusochukwu Enwere tasked them to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda and mobilize grassroots supports towards the re-election of President Tinubu.

Amb. Enwere highlighted the positive initiatives of President Tinubu’s administration, which include the recent approval of the $3 billion Eastern Rail line, South East Development Commission (SEDC), and N150 billion South East Investment Company projects.

He noted that federal government projects in South East will not only reconnect the region to national grid but create jobs, describing them as the most significant federal infrastructure commitments to the zone in Nigeria’s history.

SERHA National Coordinator however appraised the projects to be one of the best federal dividends of democracy for the zone which should be encouraged by total support, adding that from August 2025 the SERHA team will begin to tour the 95 local government areas as well as the 2344 wards spread across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

“This signals a dramatic policy and economic shift aimed at bridging decades of regional neglect and infrastructure inequality.

“However, this marks the first time any administration has budgeted over $3 billion solely for a South East transport project, drawing praises even from political critics.

“It is significant to note that, this project will slash transport costs, open new export channels, and revive dormant and industrial zones in South East Nigeria as well as realigning South-East with the center by responding to calls for inclusion.

“Since the end of the Civil War in 1970, the South East has not experienced the extent of investment and attention it is currently getting from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

In his speech, SERHA Deputy National Coordinator, Chukwudi Anyanwuocha, said the mission of SERHA is to relay the good vision and programmes of the Tinubu led administration to South East and ensure inclusivity across the zone.

He described the empowerment scheme as well as other projects of the Federal government in South East as meaningful engagements aimed at eliminating marginalization experienced over the years, assuring that other empowerment initiatives such as the students’ free-interest loans among others, shall be improved.

The Imo SERHA Coordinator, Chief Justus Ogu while addressing the people of Imo expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the team to champion the message of hope to the grassroots, expressing confidence that their collective actions will inspire renewed passion, and stronger coordination to re-elect President Tinubu.

Hon Ogu addressing the audience

Chief Ogu stressed that the event was designed to be a rallying point to mobilize, sensitize and energize the South East in readiness for the historic task ahead, which is anchored on strengthening transformative roadmap for Nigeria so as to promote inclusion, infrastructural development, economic progress and national unity.

“For instance, the present administration has recently given the South East good sense of belonging by establishing South East Development Commission (SEDC).

“Many prominent Igbo sons and daughters have been appointed into Federal boards, parastatals, policy drafting committees, and ministerial roles…signaling efforts towards national inclusion and integration.

“From information available, South East students were among the first to access the Federal Government Student loan Initiative launched in 2024.

“Federal roads in the East are receiving impressive attention through continuous funding of the Reconstruction projects.

“Hopefully, the South East Development Commission, if properly managed. will go a long way in addressing the infrastructural imbalance prevalent in the South East states. Like Oliver Twist, We need more integration into the Nigerian system. We can only achieve this supporting a man who understands that “What is good for the Goose is also good for the Gander. With Mr. President on seat, the Rail line which eluded the South East during the last administration will be constructed before the end of President Tinubu’s second term in Office, if re-elected in year 2027”.

SERHA leadership commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his foresight to have moved the motion requesting for President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to be re-elected in 2027 at the APC National Summit held at Abuja.

The Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr Mandela Ukaegbu, commended SERHA and the Federal Government for empowering the people, especially indigent persons.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for keeping good faith with the Renewed Hope Agenda to empower Imo Youths across boards, urging the people to remain good ambassadors and make good use of the items and cash donations to better their lives.

Some of the beneficiaries extolled and expressed gratitude to SERHA leadership for the empowerment initiative. They equally thanked the group for the goodwill to reach out to the South East inorder to support President Tinubu as the right candidate who knows the plight of the people and had already shown through works that he has come to change the narrative.
