The Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA), Ideato North Chapter, has been inaugurated with a call on youths to embrace responsible leadership, acquire useful skills and contribute to community development.
The inauguration, held on Saturday at Akokwa Hall, Ideato North, Imo State, attracted youth and community leaders, political representatives, traditional and religious leaders, members of OYA and other guests.
Speaking at the event, OYA National President, Prince Izunna Obiefule, charged the newly inaugurated executives to discharge their responsibilities faithfully and work for peace, progress and development in the Orlu Senatorial Zone.
The National Vice President, Amb. Ujunwa Anyaoha, in her keynote address, urged young people to pursue education, skills acquisition, trades, research and character development, stressing that effective leadership requires knowledge, competence and service.
She also advised youths against sacrificing their long-term future for temporary benefits, describing OYA as a platform for leadership development and civic engagement.
In his acceptance speech, the chapter Coordinator, Rt. Comr. Ukwu Daniel C. (Kingdanny), said the inauguration marked the beginning of a new phase of responsible youth leadership, unity and community service. He pledged to work with stakeholders to promote constructive youth engagement.
Goodwill messages were delivered by guests, including representatives of Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwonu and Hon. Sir Ceejay Henry Ezebuiro, JP, who encouraged the youths to remain productive and pursue education, vocational skills and legitimate enterprise.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of meritorious awards to individuals recognised for their contributions to community development, humanitarian service and youth empowerment.
The new chapter leadership said it would focus on youth engagement, leadership development, capacity building, unity and meaningful community participation while maintaining a non-partisan and constructive approach.
