Five ministerial slots to South East unfair, unjust, Ohaneze Ndigbo protests

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has described the allocation of five Ministerial Posts to South East as unfair and unjust to a people.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in a statement he released to newsmen across the globe observed that while other zones got 7,8, 9,10 slots , South East was given only five slots adding that such a treatment is highly disturbing.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General said that in a just environment, equity and , fairness should pervade. The release states that Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes in one united Nigeria and maintains that this can only be achieved in an atmosphere of fairness, justice and equity. Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General chief Iwuanyanwu therefore called for fairness and equity for every ethnic group in Nigeria including Ndigbo Igbo in the scheme of affairs.

He recalled that the creation of States and geopolitical zones was done by the military administrations which shortchanged the South East zone with five States maintaining that Ndigbo did not make any contribution in the exercise, whereas other zones have Six and seven States.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chiefl Iwuanyanwu noted that the situation has placed the South East in a very difficult position politically, economically, and socially.

He said that the political power of the South East zone has also been reduced as it has a few Senators in the Senate and the House of Representatives including States Houses of Assembly and Local Government Councils. He said that the South East is denied the revenue that should have come to it on the basis of States.

Chief Iwuanyanwu stated that in Federal Board appointments and other resource distributions, the South East is strategically shortchanged. While he noted that the situation was not caused by the present administration,, he however appealed to President Bola Tinubu to help remedy the ugly situation and restore justice, equity and fairness in the Nigerian polity.

Chief Iwuanyanwu prayed God to prosper the country and also give the leaders the wisdom and knowledge to steer the ship of the Nigerian nation to peace, happiness and for the good of all Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity, creed and political persuasion.
