… To distribute 30,000 improved seedlings to each LGA
… Party set to establish Farm Settlement

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in the November 11th 2023 gubernatorial election in Imo State, Hon Bright Ekwebelem has flagged off the distribution of improved seedlings of economic trees to party faithful.

In his remarks during the flag off ceremony held on 11th August, 2023 at the Imo State secretariat of the party in Owerri, Hon Ekwebelem reiterated the need to plant meaningful trees that can provide food in the family.

“There is hunger in the land and our people are not finding it funny. Hunger can cause a whole lot of social vices, so we are here to make a mark and show Imolites what we have in stock for them. “The improved seedlings distributed includes Soursop, Dwarf Banana, Plantain, Bread fruit (Ukwa), Avacado peer, Bitter kola and Kola”, he said.

He further stressed the party’s commitment to help Imolites by distributing at least 30,000 improved seedlings in each of the 27 Local Government Areas of the State within the next 6 to 7 years.

This according to him would help fight climate change and create thousands of jobs in the various Local Government Areas.

He announced that plans are in place to establish what he termed “Social Democratic Party Farm Settlement”, where the party would procure a very large expanse of land for party members, which will create jobs in the State, create food that would be sold in the market and generate money for the party. This according to him will make the party the envy of other political parties.

Hon Ekwebelem disclosed that critical stakeholders in the state have endorsed the agricultural initiative and the distribution will continue even after the gubernatorial election as it will surely go beyond the election.

The highpoint of the occasion was the handing over the improved seedlings to the 27 Local Government Areas party officials by the State Chairman of SDP, Mr. Ifeanyi Henry Eluwa.
