…As Imo NUJ celebrates 2023 Thanksgiving in grand style
The leadership and members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Imo state Council on Sunday December 10, 2023 marked a Thanksgiving service in grand style; thanking God for His infinite mercies throughout the year.
The service which took place at the Cathedral of Transfiguration of Our Lord, CATOL Owerri had overwhelming number of Imo Journalists danced and praised God in their colourful attires as the state Governor Hope Uzodimma, the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, notable Imo sons and daughters among others graced the occasion.
Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma represented by the his Chief Press Secretary Oguwike Nwachukwu commended the leadership and members of Imo NUJ for their dedication to societal service and charged them to sustain the tempo.
In his remarks, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu expressed appreciation to Imo Journalists for their works to better the state as well as society at large and for deeming it necessary to return to God in Thanksgiving.
The “Thanksgiving programme” according to Imo NUJ was very necessary to express immense gratitude to God Almighty for lives and safety of members in the course of their duties throughout the year and to rededicate themselves towards the heat of the Christmas season and new year in advance.
The Thanksgiving ceremony is the first call of programmes lined up for Imo Press Week running from Sunday 10th December to Saturday 16th December, 2023.
Other programmes for Imo Press Week include “Facilities Tour of government establishments” on Monday December 11, 2023; “Health Talk and Free Medicals by Bright Star CARE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL” on Tuesday, 12th December where there will be free Prostrate Cancer Screening and Cervical Screening.
Wednesday, 13th December is for Road Walk (7 am)/Break fast (9 am) and indoor sports competitions (10 am), while Thursday, 14th December is slated for Public Lectures on of MEDIA AND NATION BUILDING; and INSECURITIES: THE ROLE OF THE MEDIA.
Friday, 15th December will mark interactive session between the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma and members of the Union and later a novelty football Match at Dan Anyiam International Stadium Complex Whethral Road Owerri by 4 pm. On Saturday, 16th December is the grand finale, featuring Awards Presentations at NUJ Secretariat Complex, Opposite ISOPADEC office, New Owerri.
The Governor will be the Special Guest of Honour while business magnet and philanthropist of repute, Chief Success Obioma Akagburuonye will serve as the Chairman of the occasion, just as a revered traditional ruler, HRM, Eze Emmanuel Okeke ( Eze Imo) and traditional ruler of Amaifeke- Orlu ancient kingdom, and Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Community Policing, will be the Royal Father of the day.
