The Diocese of Mbaise has announced arrangements for its 2026 Diocesan Synod, scheduled to hold from May 28 to May 31, 2026, at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church Ngurunweke in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

The event, which marks the First Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Diocese, will be presided over by the Bishop of Mbaise, Rt. Rev. Chamberlain Chinedum Ogunedo.

This year’s synod is themed, “The Loudest Hallelujah without the Fear of God,” drawn from Amos 5:23–24. The theme is expected to shape discussions and spiritual reflections throughout the four-day gathering.

According to the organisers, the synod will attract Anglican clergy, lay faithful, political leaders, business executives, and other dignitaries from within and outside Imo State.

One of the major highlights of the programme will be the Presidential Address by Bishop Ogunedo, scheduled for Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m., alongside its official launch.

The synod will climax on Sunday, May 31, with a thanksgiving service, presentation of awards, and the symbolic return and carrying of the Synod Torch. A major fundraising appeal of ₦500 million will also be launched to support the establishment of the proposed Diocesan College of Nursing and Sciences.

Expected guests at the event include the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, Sir Stanley Amuchie, and Venerable Barnabas Emenogu.

The Synod Planning Committee is chaired by Sir Chidi Madugba, while Sir Cyril Utams serves as Secretary. Rev. Canon C. Nwogu is the Clerical Synod Secretary, while Venerable Daniel Anosike heads the Publicity Committee.
