Obizi-born grassroots politician, Engr Onyenekwe Chinese Thaddeus has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) for Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The adoption took place during the party’s primary election held at the APP secretariat in Itu, the headquarters of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, where party delegates unanimously endorsed Engr Onyenekwe following the adoption of the consensus mode of election.

Announcing the outcome of the primary election, the Chairman of the APP House of Assembly Primary Election Committee for Ezinihitte Mbaise, Hon. Chief Ezurike Chononyerem Ibe, stated that the party had complied with all constitutional and electoral requirements governing the exercise.
According to him, Engr Onyenekwe successfully fulfilled all stipulated guidelines and conditions laid down by the Action People’s Party, thereby emerging as the party’s consensus candidate for the Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency seat.
Hon. Ezurike noted that the unanimous endorsement demonstrated the confidence party members have in Engr Onyenekwe’s’ leadership capacity and commitment to advancing the interests of the constituency.

With his emergence, Engr Onyenekwe will now fly the flag of the Action People’s Party in the 2027 general elections as the party seeks to secure representation for the constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.
Party members at the primary election expressed optimism that the consensus arrangement would further strengthen unity within the APP and position the party for a successful outing in the forthcoming polls.
Onyenekwe is an Engineer by profession and has worked as Operations Manager in the Oil and Gas Industry in Port Harcourt.
