The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Rt Revd. Chukwuma C. Oparah PhD JP, has condemned the rising wave of attacks on innocent citizens by Boko Haram insurgents, armed Fulani herdsmen, and bandits across the country.
Bishop Oparah, who spoke during his Presidential Address at the 2026 All Anglican Men’s Association (AAMA) Conference held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Akwakuma, Owerri, on Saturday, called on government at all levels, particularly the federal government, to rise to the occasion and bring an end to the menace.
The cleric did not spare Imo State in his remarks, expressing deep concern over the security situation in the state, including the worrying trend in some areas where Christians can no longer go to church for fear of attacks.
Bishop Oparah also turned his attention to the growing rate of drug and substance abuse among youths, describing it as troubling and calling for urgent attention to curb the menace before it consumes the next generation.
The AAMA Conference, which drew clergy and lay members from across the diocese, served as a platform for the Bishop to address pressing national and state issues affecting the church and society at large.
