The Imo State Executive Council has passed a vote of implicit confidence on the Chike Olemgbe-led 10th house of the state apex legislative assembly, describing the house as a body of men with patriotic zeal and commitment to duty.
The Chief Executive and governor of the state, Senator ( Dr) Hope Uzodimma, CON who made this sterling revelation while presenting the state 2025 budget proposal to the house of assembly, bluntly declared, ” I must say that I always feel a sense of pride when I am in your midst for the simple reason that since your inauguration, you have always put the interest of the people first in the scheme of things. Indeed, I appreciate your patriotic zeal and commitment to duty”.
Governor Uzodimma who presented the budget proposal before a mammoth gathering of Imo people from all walks of life and across political leanings with present and former state and federal lawmakers fully seated, observed that although, the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria provides for the doctrine of separation of powers, the leadership and members of the state house of assembly had always, applied diligence in their relationship with the executive arm, guided by the practical needs of Imo people.
” The synergy you have formed with the executive arm has not diminished your powers but has strengthened you as an institution focused on working for the interest of the people that elected you all”, the governor added.
Welcoming the governor and other members of his executive team to the hallowed chamber of the house of assembly, Speaker Chike Olemgbe applauded him for always adhering to the constitutional demand that a state Chief Executive should prepare for presentation and laying before the legislative arm, budget proposal for the next fiscal year.
Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe who recalled what he called the governor’s fantastic and monumental achievements in all sectors of the state economy in the application of 2024 budget, described him as the most fiscally responsible governor Imo state has ever had
” It is on record that the Hope Uzodimma 3-R mantra administration was the first to engage Imo state in fiscal transparency programme of World Bank State Fiscal Transparency and Accountability System (SFTAS). The 3-R mantra administration has always scored high in transparency and economic deliverables. As a result of this, millions of dollars by way of World Bank grants have been attracted to Imo state”, Chike Olemgbe happily observed.
The house later, adjourned to Monday, December 30, 2024 for full blast deliberations on the 2024 executive budget proposal of N755 . 6 billion with the theme: Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities.
