◾Warns against reckless driving
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma has visited the scene of the fatal accident that occurred on 7th September 2025 at Awo-Omamma, along Owerri/Onitsha Road, for an on-the-spot assessment.
According to a release by DSP OKOYE HENRY, Police Public Relations Officer, CP Danjuma was accompanied by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Imo State, Corps Commander Udensi Emea Oji and other senior officers.
During the visit, CP Aboki Danjuma expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families of the twelve victims who sadly lost their lives, including adults and children, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured who are currently receiving medical attention.
He further assured that the Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Traffic Officer (STO) to carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and intensify enforcement of traffic regulations across the state, with particular emphasis on curbing reckless and dangerous driving practices such as wrongful overtaking, excessive speeding, and general negligence on the road.
He urged all road users to obey traffic rules, prioritize safety, and drive responsibly to safeguard lives and property.
