The Eastern Waste Management Company EWAMAC in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment has cautioned the public to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in and around the state.
According to a message contained in a release by the agency, a specific time has been selected for waste disposal between the hours of 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily.
The message advised residents, businesses and institutions to dispose of their waste only within the approved time-frame at the nearest waste collection points.

The release warned people against dumping of refuse in the middle of the road and throwing refuse out of moving vehicles.
It also revealed that enforcement of the directive begins from the first week of September 2025.
According to EWAMAC, any individual or group found violating the order will face prosecution in line with existing environmental and sanitation laws.
They urged all residents to comply with the directive as part of their collective responsibility in ensuring a cleaner, safer and healthier Imo state.
