Recently, the media space was awash with the news that traditional rulers from Orlu in Imo State has placed curses against anyone that will vote against the incumbent governor of the state, Sen Hope Uzodimma during the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

In a swift reaction to this development, the traditional spokesperson of Igboland and Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, Chief Engr Ejike Iwu, has urged traditional rulers to avoid getting involved in partisan politics.

Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu while speaking to independentvoice.ng decried the meddlesomeness of ndieze in political issues.

He stated that traditional rulers reign over all their subjects who may be members of all the political parties in their domain. “They are ruling all including young persons and children who have not attained voting age.

“Why must Ndieze become political party-mongers? Why must Ndieze stand and curse a whole generation because of votes?”

Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu while bemoaning the partisan activities of some royal fathers said he knows that not all traditional rulers in Orlu are involved in this.

“I caution Ndieze in Igboland to remove their hands off from politics, to guide their people and pronounce blessings on their people “, he said.

He categorically denounced the curses placed on the citizens by some royal fathers, stating that a lot of people have been favoured by the present administration in the state while others are not.

Continuing, he said those who are favoured by the 3R Administration may vote for Governor Hope Uzodimma while those not favoured may not vote for him.

On the curse that does that did not vote in support of the present administration should die, the traditional spokesperson of Igboland said: “With the power vested on me as Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, the mouthpiece of Igboland, I reverse that curse in the name of God the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. With the power God has given to me as the mouthpiece of Igboland and the power that I received even from Aka ji Ofo of Igboland from Nri, I hereby reverse those curses.

“My people are free in the name of God the father, the son and the Holy Spirit.”
