Imo SDP denies media report on resignations
… Says ex-Chairman, Okaforanyanwu was sacked due to anti-party activities
The Imo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has received a laughable media report that over 7000 officials of the party had resigned their positions and exited the party.
We would not have joined issues with one Ogbonna Alozie who is already impersonating as Secretary of Imo SDP and his co-travellers but for the sake of the unsuspecting public.
The SDP in Imo wants to state the following:
That the former Imo State Chairman, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu disgracefully suspended indefinitely by the national leadership of the party on the grounds of alleged anti-party activities. The national leadership of the SDP had suspended Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu via a letter dated 19th July 2023, which was signed by the National Secretary, Olu Agunloye.
That Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu was suspended after series of reports and complaints from the Imo State chapter of the party as well as the zonal leadership of the SDP in the South East among others.
The suspended Marshall Okaforanyanwu has a habit of not working harmoniously with people due to his high-handedness. That is why he could not work with his Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Woman and Youth Leaders.He should be asked what happened to the above stated officers immediately after the national convention of the SDP.
The claims that a candidate was foisted on the state is laughable as Marshall Okaforanyanwu as chairman supervised and invited the LGA and Ward officials of the SDP that took part in the primary that produced the party’s governorship candidate, Hon Obinna Bright Ekwebelem. He was the person that handed over the party’s flag to the governorship candidate on that day.
We wonder the level of selfishness, hatred or the offer that was made to him.that made him decide to frustrate the governorship project of the party.
Prince Okaforanyanwu was said to have plans to present himself as the dummy gubernatorial candidate which the national leadership wisely did not support. His antics show that he would have sold the party for a pot of porridge.
Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu should not be taken serious as he has always been known to be at loggerheads with people in all political parties he had been with as their Chairman. He was never working harmoniously with the candidates of the last general election before, during and after the elections. No wonder some of them left the SDP immediately after the elections.
The Ogbonna Alozie that was mentioned as Secretary of Imo State SDP, was the Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise chapter who Okaforanyanwu has been using lately to act as Secretary. He is not known to the national leadership of the payas Secretary.
If Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu had over 7000 officials of the party as his loyalist claimed, why did he not win any of the elective positions during the elections.
Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu had at various times tried to project a member of Labour Party to come and take over the party’s governorship ticket. That one failed and he went ahead to discuss with the camp of the PDP governorship candidate to work with their candidate.
If Okaforanyanwu is a loyal party man and an experienced politician, he should have known that anti-party is an offence.
One wonders how much Okaforanyanwu was paid by agents of destabilization to destroy a party he is the state chairman. We are not surprised and these are the reasons he was shamefully suspended by the national leadership.
No one should take Okaforanyanwu serious in his claims to have resigned just threw days ago as he was suspended since 19th July 2023 by the national leadership of the SDP.
Now that SDP has offloaded Marshall Okaforanyanwu with an indefinite suspension, we advise him to go and join the PDP governorship Campaign Organization or follow his Labour Party benefactor and deliver any of them.
The SDP in Imo has a new leadership with a vibrant Chairman, Mr Ifeanyi Henry Eluwa who has had embarked on reconciliation and sensitization tours of Aboh Mbaise LGA which Okaforanyanwu was not able to do as he was on the payroll of others to destroy the party.
Imo SDP is proud of her new Chairman and state leadership as many who hitherto left the party had come back. A lot of others are joining the party as can be seen during the Aboh Mbaise sensitization and reconciliation tour.
We have a young man without any political baggage as governorship candidate. He is among the Frontline contenders as can be seen from his media visibility and mentions.
SDP in Imo is unwavering in its focus to capture the Douglas House come November 11 2023. No amount of distraction can sway the party from this project.
We want to warn Marshall Okaforanyanwu, his cohorts and other impostors to stay clear of the SDP in Imo State. SDP was there before he joined and now that we have known he is an unstable character, he should go and play his trade (anti-party) elsewhere.
