…Urges Tinubu to release Kanu to halt sit-at-home orders
The Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu (traditional spokesperson), Chief Engr Ejike Iwu has condemned the gruesome killing of five Nigerians soldiers by suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on 30th May, 2024 at Aba, Abia State.
In a statement sent to www.independentvoice.ng, Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu pleaded with the federal government to help calm frayed nerves of the military who have painfully lost some of their gallant men.
Chief Iwu also called on Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to use his power to calm the situation as more reprisal attacks will affect Innocent citizens in Aba.
Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu further appealed to the military to take it easy over the killing of their men as they had vowed to revenge, in order not to endanger more lives.
The Igbo traditional spokesperson urged President Bola Amed Tinubu to use his office as Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces to release IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, whose continued incarceration is why those enforcing the sit-at-home home order are doing so.
He emphasized that if Kanu is released, any one in the South East found giving such order will be handled accordingly by law.
