The immediate past Governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha has appointed an Mbaise-born media expert Mr Martins Ori his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
Mr Martins Ori, who is a senior and ace journalist succeeded lhedioha’s former media Aide Mr Chibuike Onyeukwu, now, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and aspirant to the seat of Chairmanship of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the State in the September 21, proposed lmo State independent Electoral Commission (lSIEC) elections.
Onyeukwu served as the CPS to the former Governor between May 2019 and January 2020 and even while the former Governor was Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives for 12 years.
The new CPS to lhedioha, Mr Ori, seems to have rich experience garnered from his years of robust media practice.He is said to have spent 10 years at The Sun Newspapers Ltd working in various capacities namely Assistant Editor, Sports, Assistant Editor, Education and Assistant Editor, Investigation.
Prior to his Sun Newspapers Ltd voyage, the new lead person in lhedioha’s media train, had worked as South East Bureau Chief Hallmark Newspaper.
The thoroughbred media icon is said to have transferred his services in 2021 to the News Echo Newspaper where he served as Managing Editor.He later teamed up with Afam Echi to co-found Oriental Newspaper, a weekly tabloid based in Owerri, Imo State.
Recall that Hon Emeka Ihedioha recently dumped the People’s Democratic Party PDP after more than two decades of membership with thousands of his henchmen and supporters.He is yet to formally pitch his tent with any political party but indications are that he will eventually join the Labour Party, (LP).
