Following the hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly known as Petrol by Nigerians, newly inaugurated President, Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been urged to prove that he is not.in support of the hike immediately.
According to Chief (Engr) Ejike Iwu, who holds the title of Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, President Tinubu should as a matter of urgency take actions to sanction persons and filling stations that have arbitrarily hiked the pump prices of PMS.
This he said is to show Nigerians that he (Mr President), is not in support or behind the sudden increment of the product.
The Igbo traditional spokesperson called on the new President to initiate measures that will ameliorate the harsh economic effects of the hike in petrol pump prices, especially for such measures to be felt positively at the grassroots.
The fuel hike which saw prices of PMS rising to as low as N600 and N800 in some places across the nation, followed the announcement by President Tinubu that subsidy on petroleum has been cancelled by his new administration.
