◾Empowers other Teams, Footballers after Competition
National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu through, “Samdaddy Football Club” has rewarded the Obodo Amaimo FC after it defeated Egbelu Football FC to emerged the champion in the tournament.
The final of the competition which took place at the Central School, Amaimo was between Egbelu Amaimo and Obodo Amaimo football club. While Obodo Amaimo won the gold medal, Egbelu carried the silver and Umuri Amaimo took the third position. Anyanwu further rewarded other competing teams as well as best footballer, best behaved team, highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, coach, among others.
In a chat with Journalists, Anyanwu said that he was moved to donate the cup as part of his burning desire to create unity, peace, progress in Amaimo as well as discovering tallent inherent in some youths, adding that aside sports, he had initiated other relevant social activities to discourage youth restiveness and social vices.
According to Anyanwu, “I was poised to invest in my area through sports, knowing that sports has a unique way of bringing peace, unity and oneness in the society. So far, I have seen peace return, love enthroned and joy established in our area”
“My desire is to continue to assist my people in anyway I can, while understanding the fact that I may not have succeeded in life if I were not born to this community. Most times, I become very restless over what I can do to promote this community that has given me the leeway, one of my contributions in making Amaimo better is sports and this must continue until the community is launched in the global map”.
He further maintained that his reason for organizing the competition was devoid of political interest, adding that the programme was part of his foundation’s “Sow Others May Eat” (S.O.M.E) programmes to give back to the society.
The event witnessed the presence of Nze Kasarachi representing Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Traditional Ruler of Umuri Amaimo, HRH Eze Peter Njoku, Chairman, Ikeduru Tradition Council, HRH Eze Victor Achonye of Obodo Amaimo, HRH Eze (Dr.) Oliver Njoku (Oputaobie Ikeduru), HRH Eze Reginald A. Amadi of Oboetiti, as well as other Traditional Rulers.
Others in attendance include, the Imo PDP State Chairman, Hon Austin Nwachukwu, Secretary, Southeast PDP, Hon Mike Ahumibe, Director General of Divine Mandate Movement, Hon Marshall Okafor Anyanwu, the three zonal PDP Chairmen, Hon Chuks Ajaelu (Okigwe), Carl Nwokoma (Orlu), and Jeoffery Ihentige (Owerri zone).
Other members of the PDP State Working Committee in attendance include, Hon Felix Nwosu, Ndubueze Eburuaja, Mrs. Edith Nwachi, LGA Chairmen led by Chairman of all Chairmen, Hon Emeka Alihe, members of Samdaddy Fans Club, amongst others.
