The attacks and consequent killing of innocent citizens in Imo State have continued unabated as a traditional ruler and traditional prime minister have been shot dead by unknown assailants in Oguta local government area on Thursday.

Report says the latest victim is the traditional ruler of Orsu Obodo in Oguta local government area of Imo State, HRH Eze Victor Ijioma.

According to sources, the royal father of Orsu Obodo monarch was waylaid and his car stopped around the Umuamaka Junction in Izombe town, where he was killed inside the car.
The killers, it was learned, went ahead to set his corpse ablaze inside his car, apparently not satisfied with killing him.
“The Eze, Igwe of Orsu Obodo was accosted while he was driving at Umuakama Junction in the afternoon.
“They shot him, and they set him ablaze inside his car and left the scene”, a source said.
In another incident, the Isama of Mgbele (the traditional prime minister) of Mgbele community in Oguta, is said to have been murdered by unknown assailants.
The Mgbele community leader was said to have been killed in his town.
Villagers have reported increased presence of military and other security operatives in Izombe, Mgbele and the communities around the area who are seeking to unravel the perpetrators of the dastardly acts.
“As I am talking to you now, soldiers and other security operatives are currently combing the villages in search of the assailants”, a village source stated.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO,, Henry Okoye, could not be reached to confirm the incidents at the time of filing this report.
