Hon. Dr. Kyrian Uchegbu, Member Representing Imo State on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, for sponsoring the 2025 Easter Pilgrimage to Jordan and Israel.

Dr. Uchegbu, who is part of the Imo State delegation currently on the holy journey, described the Governor’s gesture as both spiritually uplifting and visionary. He noted that the pilgrimage offers a rare opportunity for participants to connect with the roots of their faith, seek divine direction, and reflect on leadership anchored on godly principles.

Speaking during one of the sessions in Jerusalem, Dr. Uchegbu lauded Governor Uzodinma’s commitment to promoting moral and spiritual rejuvenation among Imo citizens. He emphasized that such spiritual exercises are essential for fostering peace, unity, and development in both the state and the nation at large.

The NDDC representative also stated that the pilgrimage afforded him the opportunity to understudy Israel and Jordan’s models of national development, particularly in tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure areas he believes hold valuable lessons for the sustainable growth of the Niger Delta region.

According to him, “Beyond the spiritual experience, this pilgrimage is also a learning platform. The resilience and innovation of the people of Israel are inspiring. I intend to apply some of these insights to further the developmental goals of the Niger Delta Development Commission and to promote peace and prosperity in our region.”

Dr. Uchegbu further revealed that he used the solemn moments at the The Church of the Nativity, the Mount of Transfiguration, and the Wailing Wall to pray earnestly for Nigeria, the Niger Delta region, and Imo State in particular asking God to grant leaders wisdom and the people enduring peace and progress.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for his consistent efforts in projecting Imo State positively on both national and international platforms, describing him as “a leader with divine vision who understands that true transformation begins with spiritual renewal.”

The 2025 Easter Pilgrimage, coordinated under the auspices of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), features delegates from various sectors of Imo State, including government officials, religious leaders, and stakeholders. The program is aimed at deepening faith, promoting peace, and building international goodwill.

Dr. Uchegbu concluded by urging participants to return home as ambassadors of peace and moral renewal, reminding them that “when leaders and followers reconnect with their Creator, the land will indeed be healed”.
