FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has opened up on what he believes is really behind his running battle with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma — and it has nothing to do with politics as usual, he claims, but everything to do with his appointment as minister.

Speaking Tuesday on Arise Television’s “Prime Time,” Wike didn’t hold back, accusing APC governors of taking money from Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara without delivering him a second term. The comment was his response to APC governors who had publicly distanced themselves from the idea of a “rainbow coalition.”

According to Wike, the discomfort within APC ranks traces back to when he was handed the FCT ministerial slot — a development he says did not sit well with his political rivals. He pointed to Imo and Ebonyi States as examples where President Tinubu failed to pull even 10 percent of the vote, despite the governors’ loyalty to the party.

He also questioned why the same governors were quick to take credit for APC’s National Assembly wins in Ebonyi, Abia, and Enugu — states where, by his account, the president similarly underperformed — yet were reluctant to credit any coalition efforts for those same victories.

Wike’s remarks add fresh fuel to the simmering tension between him and Uzodimma, with no sign either side is backing down.
