The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, is set to chair the 112th National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting and 28th National Convention of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA).
The gathering holds on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors’ Secretariat, behind IMSUBEB, off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
This year’s convention carries the theme “Innovate, Empower, and Restore: Driving Sustainable Growth in a Challenging Landscape,” and will draw alumni of the University of Nigeria together to deliberate on innovation, empowerment, institutional development, and sustainable growth.
Prof. Dozie, himself a product of the University of Nigeria, takes on the role of Chairman for both the NEC Meeting and the National Convention — a fitting reflection of the ties he continues to hold with his alma mater and its alumni family.
Presiding as Chief Host will be the Queen Mother, Mrs. Linda Agüo-Oknyekwe, Global/National President of UNAA, alongside Prof. Ada Madu, Professor of Physics at FUTO, who steps in as Guest Speaker.
Also expected to grace the occasion are the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Simon Ortunanya; the Royal Father of the Day, HRM Eze Amb. Dr. Okwudili Divine Nwadu, Ojukwu III; the Special Guest of Honour, Chief Dr. Andrew Oru, National Leader of UNAA; the Host, Loos Alozie, SAN, President of UNAA Owerri Branch; and the Local Chairman, Surv. C.I. Nwabiche, FNIS.
Beyond the formalities, the convention promises to be a moment of fellowship for alumni — a chance to reflect on shared history and chart fresh paths toward strengthening the Association’s impact on national development.
