The Imo State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Amb. Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, has stated that the party is the only opposition political party that is standing tall at the Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Imo High Court in Owerri, asking the tribunal to cancel the Local Government Election, as it was allegedly manipulated by the APC against the wills of the people.
He said the party, being the only party still pushing forward to let the tribunal see reasons as to cancel the Imo Council Polls, believing strongly in the judiciary, is formidably united and law-abiding.
Eluwa, who spoke to journalists in Owerri on Monday, said SDP is undefeatable and the leading opposition political party in Imo State, with people- oriented ideologies, adding that the party believes in humanity, promotes democratic governance, rule of law and constitutionalism.
He called on Imolites to put hands on deck to be able to rebuild Imo State by joining SDP, which he said cannot afford to disappoint, neglect nor compromise the peace, goodness of the people.
The Chairman, who said the party has confidence in the Election Petition Tribunal to delivering democratic verdict in the matter before it, lauded the judiciary for firmly discharging justice at the tribunal.
“SDP is the only political party that is standing tall and formidable at the Imo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Imo State High Court in Owerri. With joy, we want to let Imolites to know that among all political parties that approached the tribunal over the aftermath ot the selected September 21st 2024 LG Elections, only SDP stands tall at the tribunal with cogent facts that cannot be overturned.
“Other political parties’ cases had been struck out due to lack of merit, according to the tribunal. SDP thanks the judiciary for doing a wonderful work by the way it discharges justice at the tribunal. SDP calls on the entire Imolites to be stable and prayerful as there is nothing God cannot do.
“SDP is saying there was no LG Elections held in Imo State, only selection of Sole Administrators and Ward Councillors loyal to APC and ISIEC. In fact, those who occupy the Seats of the LGAs are SOLADs, not elected Chairmen or Councillors. No body voted for them as there was obviously no election held anywhere in Imo State.
“SDP, as one of the leading opposition political parties in Imo State, with excellent idealogies and effecient leadership, will recover state’s dwindling and shrinking economy in due course.
“SDP stands tall and is united in all it does and being the only political party remaining at the tribunal is a testament of its deep belief for eternal democracy and indeed a thing to glorify God.
“SDP urges its teeming supporters, concerned citizens to be prayerful and expect history and testimony at the end of the tunnel”, SDP State Chairman maintained.
