… As he leads Imo delegation to bid former Senator, SDP leader farewell

The former Senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial zone at the national assembly, Sen Annie Clement Okonkwo, has been described as a leader par excellence.
Making this description while speaking with newsmen during the burial of the late senator at Ojoto in Anambra State, governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP for Imo State, Hon Obinna Bright Ekwebelem described Late Senator Annie as a Leader of the Social Democratic Party even at the National level because he helped in revitalizing and sponsoring the party in the South-East.
According to the youthful Imo State gubernatorial candidate; “We have lost a rare gem who we always seek his fatherly advice.
“The caliber of men here from all walks of life is a testament to the fact that Senator Annie is loved and he will be greatly missed”.
Also in his tribute to the late Senator Annie Okonkwo, Imo State Chaiman of Social Democratic Party, Ambassador Eluwa Henry Ifeanyi said the late politician was a Leader of the SDP who gave his all to see that the party stands tall in South East.
Ambassador Eluwa further described him as a pathfinder who raised his children with the fear of God and the family would be consoled with the fact that he lived a fulfilled life.
Imo SDP was at the burial of late Annie Okonkwo by a delegation led by the youthful Governorship hopefully of the Social Democratic Party for the November 11th Imo Governorship Election, Hon Obinna Bright Ekwebelem. The delegation was there to pay last respect to the fallen politician who died at the age of 63.
Late Annie Okonkwo was a strong and visible voice at the upper chamber of the national assembly representing Anambra Central between 2007 and 2011.
He made laudable contributions as a lawmaker and perhaps will be remembered for sponsoring the Bill entitled: ‘Establishment of the Nigerian Citizens in Diaspora Commission’, which was passed into law and led to the creation of Nigerians in Diasspora Commission (NIDCOM).
For every achievement of NIDCOM as a federal government agency that oversees the multidimensional engagements of Nigerians in the diaspora, which includes to protect their interest and also harness their potential to ensure meaningful contributions to the development of the nation, Nigerians will always remember that it was the vision of late Annie Okonkwo.
Among the Imo SDP delegation are the State Working Committee.members, the Local Government Chairmen and some party faithful from the state.
