Following State of the Nation address by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, a philantropist and established entrepreneur, Dr. Ejike Lucky Chukwu (MON) has joined other prominent Nigerians calling on the youths to renounce their fate towards the protest, giving the teething national issues and economic challenges raised by the president during his nationwide broadcast and the determination of his administration to proactively but systematically address them.
Speaking to Journalists on Sunday as monitored by 4th Estate Reporters, Ejike Chukwu said: “As a true Nigerian patriot, statesman, philantropist and entrepreneur, I understand the frustrations and challenges faced by many Nigerians. However, I strongly advise against resorting to nationwide protests, which can lead to destruction of property, loss of lives, and economic instability.
“Rather, I would candidly advise our youths to channel their energy towards constructive dialogue and engagement with the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to address issues like power supply, fuel subsidy, and provide entrepreneurship, and community development platforms for direct benefits”.
According to the established entrepreneur and philantropist, Ejike Chukwu, while admitting that there are disturbing national issues like removal of fuel subsidy, massive youth unemployment, economic challenges causing skyrocketed inflation, epileptic electric supply, hunger and poverty, but there is still need to come together to build a better Nigeria through dialogue, conversation, innovative solution, job creation, and inclusive governance, advising the protesters to use the Endsars protest as an example of how infiltrated protest and bad elements could cause a national havoc on an already beleaguered economy.
Dr. Ejike Chukwu maintained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his speech, displayed empathy over the deaths, looting and destruction that trailed the `Days of Rage Protests` and promised to enthuse law and order to prevent more of such incidents, which is not only reassuring but also commendable. He therefore, called on all stakeholders to heed the President’s call for dialogue, saying “Open and constructive conversations are essential to addressing the underlying causes of unrest and finding sustainable solutions”.
