The traditional spokesperson of Ndigbo, Chief Engr Ejike Iwu, who holds the traditional title of Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release detained leader of the the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a viral message on social media, Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu while reacting to the alleged reason that the president wanted to release the pro-biafra agitator but was asked not to do so by some prominent Igbos.

According to Chief Engr Iwu, such an.excuse is not reasonable because when President Tinubu was running for governorship of Lagos State, some prominent persons did not support but he went ahead to contest and won.

He further asked Mr President “when you were putting in place government policies at Governor, some prominent persons kicked against them but you didn’t listen to them.

“As you were aspiring and running for Presidency, some prominent people also kicked against your ambition but you didn’t listen to them.

“Remember that many prominent persons kicked against the building of Iyanaoba-Iyanikpaja Road but didn’t listen to them. That construction saved many man-hours of delay on that road.

“You didn’t listen to prominent persons when you increased the Local governments in Lagos even when the Obasanjo led Federal Government kicked against it”.

Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu urged President Tinubu to release Kanu and never succumb to such flimsy excuses not to do the needful.

According to the traditional spokesperson of Ndigbo, the president should release Kanu for the sake of Ndigbo who are feeling the pains of his detention, adding that his release will end the Sit-at-home in the East, which has worsened the poverty among the masses.

He called on Tinubu to make history as the President who stopped impunity of government by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as a prisoner of conscience for peace to reign in Igbo land.

Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu urged the president to release Nnamdi Kanu, stating that posterity will never forget him if he frees Kanu.
