The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe has described the reappointment of Chief Cosmas Iwu and Barr Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie as Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI) and Chief of Staff, Government House respectively, as putting round pegs in round holes.

According to Rt Hon Olemgbe, Governor Hope Uzodimma also got it right by reappointing Chief Emeka Agbor, Deputy Chief of Staff (operations) and Chief Ferdinand Uzodimma, Deputy Chief of Staff (general duties).

The Speaker who dropped the hint via a press statement endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Uwa, stressed emphatically that the state governor who according to him, attaches great value to credibility in service, acted in good faith and in the overall interest of Imo state by re-engaging Chief Cosmas Iwu and Nnamdi Anyaehie as key government functionaries.

Olemgbe observed that the SGI and Chief of staff constitute the engine room generating power for the Uzodimma led 3R-mantra administration.

“The reappointment of these four avowed apostles of 3-mantra administration into office did not come to me as a surprise because, the chief pilot and chief executive of this great state, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma (CON, GSSR) who gave them the go-ahead to function in their former positions as SGI, Chief of staff, deputy chief of staff (operations) and deputy chief of staff (general duties) in his wisdom as excellent manager of human and material resources, acted in view of the fact that experience in service is a great asset”, Chike Olemgbe stated.

Meanwhile, the speaker who also represents Ihitte-Uboma state constituency in the Assembly, has charged Imo people of all walks of life, religious and political affiliations to engage in agricultural activities this farming season as a response to the prevailing high cost of food items in the market nationwide.

He expressed the view that every available piece of land should be converted to a vegetable garden or large-scale farm to boost food production.

The lawmaker further, enjoined Imo people to spend less money on pleasure trips, to enable them invest in small-scale family gardens.
