Youths of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, have described the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP for the Imo State November 11 election, Hon Obinna Bright Ekwebelem, as the chosen one.
Making this description last Sunday at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Obizi, Obizi Archdeaconry, Diocese of Mbaise during their Annual Youth Diocesan Conference, Youth President, Bro Tochi Nwogu said: “We have seen who to support. He is a new breed technocrat with no political stain. We also do not want recycled politicians that have taken us for granted”.
The Anglican youths used the occasion to present an Award of Honour to the SDP governorship candidate, which they said is “in recognition and appreciation of his immense contributions and meritorious services to God and humanity”.
Presenting the award, Bishop of Mbaise Diocese, Rt. Rev. Chamberlain C. Ogunedo (JP), ably represented Ven. A. C. Otuonye, the Diocesan Youth Chaplain, described Ekwebelem as an upwardly mobile young man who supports the Church.
In his remarks after receiving the award, Hon Ekwebelem who was represented by the Imo State SDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr Ifeanyi Henry Eluwa, thanked the youths for honoring him.
He pledged to do more in his service to God and humanity, adding that he likes to support the church whenever he is called upon.
Th highpoint of the event was the handing over of the award plaque to the Imo SDP Chairman on behalf of Hon Ekwebelem.
