The Abia State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, *Comrade Azode Chukwuma*, popularly known as _China_, has unveiled a hardline voter mobilisation strategy targeting all motor parks in the state, declaring “No PVC, No Loading” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive interview after Tuesday’s mandatory stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Abia State Government, Chukwuma said the NURTW would leverage its grassroots network to ensure drivers, conductors, and commuters secure their Permanent Voter Cards.
“From all indications, today’s meeting was a wonderful one because there is no way you will be active in the political terrain without having a PVC,” Chukwuma said. “Based on the information we gathered today, we really need to go back to our various localities and make sure we sensitise our people to get their PVCs.”
The NURTW chairman announced that the union will roll out _Operation Show Your PVC_ across motor parks statewide.
“We are going to go back to our various motor parks, sensitise our people, make sure we mandate them that we are now going into operation, show your PVC. No PVC, no loading,” he stated. “I believe that our PVC is our power and our voice, so we really need to have it to make sure we support good governance that is going on in Abia State.”
Chukwuma said the move was a direct show of support for *Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR*, citing the governor’s performance as the reason for the union’s early mobilisation.
“Since we are proud of His Excellency and His good works in Abia State, we really want Him to continue come 2027. So the best thing I think we should do to support His government is to vote Him back come 2027, and there’s no way we can vote Him in without having our PVCs.”
On the union’s electoral structure, Chukwuma confirmed the NURTW has a “formidable structure that believes in good governance.”
“The name of that structure is _Local Boys_, and our motto is _Protect Your Locality_,” he revealed. “Our job all this period is to make sure we sensitise every one of our youths to go for their PVCs and try and protect their votes on the day of election, because if you don’t protect your votes, definitely you will lose out.”
He stressed that the structure’s mandate goes beyond mobilisation: “Our job is to sensitise our people to protect their votes after voting.”
The interview followed Tuesday’s meeting of transport unions and artisans at the Labour Party State Secretariat, Umuahia, where state officials charged stakeholders to intensify voter registration and grassroots engagement under the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Comrade Azode Chukwuma, aka _China_, reaffirmed that the NURTW State Council will begin the sensitisation campaign immediately across all parks and loading points
